OK, you've completed the grunt work, assessing, washing, and repairing your bike's surface areas.
Now comes the hard part. Restoring your bikes finish to show room new condition!
This part of the detail process, is almost simple, but requires an attention to detail that most people
lack... at least during the first few times you do it. Here's how you know if you've done the restore step
well. Remember the last time you 'washed' your bike? Remember how after you were done, you
noticed a few spots that still had wax haze on them? Remember the spots on your chrome that didn't
shine like the rest of the pipe? Remember the back of the mirror that still had bug stuck on them?
Those few spots are indicators that you didn't restore EVERY part of your bike... And those are just the
few that you notice. We see them all!
Missing spots, comes from 1 or 2 'misses' in the process. The first miss comes from not following a
logical approach which makes you 'HIT' every surface on your bike. Some detailers go from front to
back, others top to bottom, others focus on a side, top to bottom or front to back. The method you use
is up to you, but remember, detailing means that you 'hit' every square inch of surface; choose a
process and stick to it. The second MISS comes from not having the right tools. The back side of the
swing arm, & the chrome under those wires, are just as important as the big surface areas in terms of
finish protection. Untreated areas are the breeding ground for problems. Untreated areas get pitted,
or dull beyond restoration.. It's that simple.
Using the right tools to reach those impossible areas, is as critical as using the right chemicals for
the surface area you're treating. Don't use metal polish on paint, and vs versa. Don't use glass
cleaner on your chrome or wire harnesses. We have the right chemicals and tools designed for every
surface, from Clear Coat haze remover, spoke strips for cleaning those testy chrome wheels, engine
black out restoration and harness cleaner, to a whole assortment of brushes, polishing mitts, etc to
make the job go easier.
Remember, what you learned when you were young... Use the right tool for the right job.. This applies
to chemicals too At Chrome Jones, we have all the products and tools you need to complete the
restoration process to bring your bike back to showroom condition!
