Washing is the first STEP in the detailing process. It is not however the first thing that you do!
The most important step in the pre-wash phase, is taking a few minutes to look over your ride.
Take a few minutes to look at wear areas under straps, tied downs, behind bags, and under
the seat. Look for lose wires, bad connections, corrosion areas. Look for oil slicks, spotting, or
leaking. Be on the lookout for heavy dirt and grunge build up, and also for any safety problem
that needs attention. Once you have suds on the bike it's too late to spot the trouble areas!
Remember, use a wash mitt, and never push or rub too hard at the start. Use Renew Cycle
Wash, spray on, let it sit for a while, then hose off. It does most of the work, and you don't want
to be pushing dirt all around on your finish! Let RENEW do the work! After you've rinsed, then
go back and suds it up a little more getting into all the nooks and crannies REMEMBER - wash
from top to bottom.. And rinse your MITT frequently. Dirt on the MITT creates small scratches in
your finish, that you don't want! DON'T use the same MITT on your wheels that you use on the
rest of your bike! Wheels are the dirtiest part of your bike!
After you're washed and blown dry your bike, Take a few extra minutes after the final rinse to
make sure you got everything off. When you're in the repair or restore steps, you don't need any
dirt residue you missed, getting in the way!

Step 1 Wash!!
Getting off to the right
start is critical. Take a
few moments and do
some prep work.
Remove saddle bags,
accessories, seat etc.
Look for areas that
need special attention
and cleaning. Once
you have suds on the
bike, it too late to
evaluate it!
